Pastor Chris Oyakhilome was born December 7, 1963 in Edo State in Nigeria. He grew up in a religious family with loving and dedicated parents. He is the elder of three sons born to elder T.E Oyakhilome (one of the founding members of the Assemblies for God Church in Benin City) and Angelina. Angelina was the matriarch and imprinted her divine grace to her son at the age of a child.

The LoveWorld ministry involves the whole family. His brother, Reverend Ken, is the esteemed pastor of Christ Embassy's Houston, Texas Church and a member of Christ Embassy Central Executive Council, and his sister, KattyWorghiren, is the director of the LoveWorld Music and Arts Ministry (LMAM), which is home to several world-class gospel artists.

Pastor Chris has two daughters, Carissa Sharon and Charlene. Carissa Sharon, also known by the name of CSO is a CSO member who has decided to follow the footsteps of her father and share the Gospel of God the world. She is an accomplished gospel artist, a Grammy-award winning singer and part of the LoveWorld Music and Arts Family.

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome began his education at Edo College. Then he was granted a scholarship to study at Bendel State University, now Ambrose Ali University. There was he obtained a BSc. in Architecture as well as an honorary Doctor of Science. He is also a doctoral honorary from Benson Idahosa University in divinity. Ambrose Ali University was where he discovered his calling to serve the Lord and to be a minister.

He had an unassuming prayer group known as "Youth for Christ," which eventually evolved into one of the largest groups of its kind on campus and would serve as the foundation of the future Christ Embassy and LoveWorld Incorporated with millions of followers across the globe.

Pastor Chris was the leader of the LoveWorld ministry to become a pioneer in satellite TV and Christian production and programming on television. LoveWorldSAT was the first Christian television station broadcast out of Africa to the the world 24/7 nonstop on free-to-air networks. There are LoveWorld satellite and cable television stations all over the globe.

Christ Embassy has a strong presence in Pastor Chris's homeland of Nigeria, South Africa, the United Kingdom, Canada, and the United States. The church has two Healing Schools, based in South Africa and Canada, where Pastor Chris hosts sessions throughout the year where miracles are performed.
